Parrot Training And Care
I've constantly been a fan of parrots. As a little girl I remember an aunt of mine used to have one, it would recite anything and was brilliant fun. My partner died not so long ago, leaving me feeling astonishingly lonesome. The other week I took out some oldish photographs, one of myself in my younger days, talking to the parrot in its cage. With such satisfied memories I decided to invest in one.
I've got to be honest, I didn't have a hint of how to care for a parrot. All I do think of is my aunt saying time and constancy were the key. Calmness nonetheless is not my tough point! With the right care I knew a parrot would be the perfect pet for me. It would give me the companionship I missed and fun too. I paid a visit to the library to do some swotting up before going to the pet shop.
The library book was superb, packed with information. It advised acquiring a big enough cage to allow the parrot to move around snugly, to spread its wings. The bottom of the cage would need to be lined with paper, changed and cleaned daily to stop food and bird mess falling onto the floor. This wouldn't be a concern, I always have the hoover on standby. The book suggested purchasing toys to keep the bird pleasantly occupied, a perch, food and a water bowl.
The parrot would have to be cleansed at least once a week with water and dried with a towel. Its nails needed to be clipped to stop them from growing too long. A parrot requires a balanced diet, fruit, vegetables, meat and grains are excellent, including having fresh water every day.
The penny dropped, keeping a pet parrot would be hard work. This didn't put me off obtaining one though, specially when I found out I needed to talk to it every day. Apparently vocal contact is greatly essential, that was ok with me as sometimes I never shut up.
The following day I visited the pet shop. Had a talk to the shop assistant, he had just what I was looking for, an ambitious green and yellow Macaw, I was excited. He offered great advice too, like not cleaning out the cage with harmful chemicals, only warm water. I purchased the whole range for a striking price, the parrot, cage and accessories.
My pet parrot, Dolly, is such a best companion for me. We bonded straight away and I can't think of life without her. I must say the internet is very first-rate for typical tips and advice about parrots. I've read how to train them, keep them occupied and teach them to talk, absolutely beneficial and exceptional fun too.
I must say professional websites on parrots are extensively awesome, even for oldies like me. The home is now alive with chatter and laughter. Get a parrot yourself, they make fantastic friends.
