African Greys - What you should know before rushing out to buy one!
Buying a parrot is a big commitment, because of the time we live, and how much care you need. African Greys are one of the most popular species of parrot, but definitely not the easiest to care. In this article briefly explain the pros and cons of owning an African Grey parrot, which will help you decide if they are the right pet bird for you.
Greys African birds are really beautiful looking, and have the added benefit of being one of the parrot species easier to train, and care. I originally come from Africa central, and are well known for being extremely intelligent, and very fast students - especially when it comes to talking.
They grow to be anywhere place between 10 and 14 inches high, so they are just a medium sized parrot. There are two types of African Grey for you to choose - the Timneh African Grey, and the African Grey Congo. The Timneh is charcoal gray with a brown tail, while the Congo is light gray with a red tail. In both types of gray parrot, is not easy to distinguish The male of female, because the color and the marks are identical. The only hope of detecting a difference, is that if a man and a woman are put side by side, because the male tends to be large!
African gray parrots live to sixty years, it is necessary to carefully consider this before buying one - could very easily that survive!
